This special evening event featured Vic Sharma, a Master’s Student in the History of South Asia at SOAS University of London. Mr. Sharma has given lectures around the UK on mysticism and esoteric practices. Vic presented the “Musical Mystic Tradition of Asia” and the Role of Music in Spirituality including several musical examples from Sufi and other traditions.
Following the presentation CIFN held the annual Social Evening: Music, poetry, snacks, refreshments & Good Company. Featured items included a Plainchant demonstration by Fr. Paul Fleetwood; rousing songs on guitar and tabla by Rev. Stephen Innes and Ashwin Soni; a short recitation from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales by Richard Heybroek, and other musical offerings.
The evening was very well attended with SRO and more than 60 people. Feedback was very positive with many requests for more social events in future.
